The Challenge
StarSat is a digital satellite television provider and notable content creator, with 140 channels broadcasting to over 20 million users across the African continent. They offer subscribers customisable packages suited to satisfy diverse cultures and languages. The broadcaster regularly refreshes their existing offerings to accommodate new shows and channels. We were tasked with creating robust identities and broadcast ready assets, for a host of original new shows.
The Approach
We began by thoroughly understanding the intended audience, considering cultural nuances, language preferences, and viewing habits. Next, we analyzed the content of the new shows, identifying key conceptual elements to expand on. We explored a range of ideas through mood boards, style frames, and quick edits of stock footage and show clips. Finally, we presented our concepts to producers and focus groups to gauge their reactions and gather valuable feedback.
The Response
We created and delivered robust visual identities and supporting broadcast assets, for one new live studio show (African Palate) and two new channels (LifeTV documentaries and Trigger actions channel), that resonated positively with audiences while remaining flexible enough to accommodate all off-air launch activities typically associated with original programming.
